In recent years, many Taiwanese Business Associations have established softball teams to
have games and make friends. Huizhou Taiwanese Business Association organized its first
softball tournament in Huizhou, a total of 11 teams participated.
Vice president of Huizhou-Taiwan investment enterprises and Union Commission Chairman,
Ms, Xu Jinzhi, said in the meeting, “Softball is a fusion of leisure and sports activities in
Taiwan. It has been gaining its popularity in Taiwan. With the number of Taiwan investment
grows in Huizhou year by year, many softball and baseball teams have been formed. Softball
tournaments become a great platform to meet more friends and exchange business experiences.”
Taiwanese Investment Enterprises Association in Huizhou initiated a proposal of Softball League
in November last year. However, unable to elect a person in charge, there was no solid action
taking place. Until May of 2009, Ms Jin zhi Hsu was elected as Chairman of Huizhou Taiwanese
Softball League, the Union was formally established during the 15^th anniversary of Taiwan
businessmen's association establishment on June 27^th. Taiwanese Softball Union was established
in Huizhou Yian Park Sports Ground in on September 20, 2009. The first tournament officially took
place on the same day.
There were 11 teams, total 350 people participated in this tournament. The tournament would
last for 2 months. The games were on Sundays. The union is planning to have Spring and Fall
tournament every two years.
